 Nuclear Submarine 61505

I have about twenty sets now from different companies who make brick models. It takes a lot for me to get a WOW! reaction because they have come so far in the last few years. Up until then a tank made by bricks looked like a box with some tracks thrown on it. In actual fact, you can still see some of those for sale. JMBricklayer popped up onto the scene just a short time ago and yet they are producing some of the finest brick models you can find. I reviewed their White Swan ship and their RC Tiger Tank (those links will be below). This huge submarine just blew me away with its detail.

You can see just a small amount of the detail that comes with this submarine build. It is truly great to see what extras JMBricklayer was able to put into this brick model.

It actually has about 100 less bricks than the White Swan ship but it seems much bigger than it. The inclusion of all of the different parts of a nuclear submarine are here. Just look at this list:

Nuclear Generator
Missile Silos
Command Center
Sleeping Quarters
Torpedo Control Room
The Different Array of Antennas

This is the Submarine starting to take shape.

You can plainly see the detail that went into modeling the nuclear reactor. Plus, you have the bunk beds from the sleeping quarters.

Here is a close-up of the reactor.

It just amazes me to see how much thought was put into this build.

In this shot you can see the torpedo room.

In the above shot you can see the command center with a desk and chairs. You also get to see the computer screens. The screens are from decals that come with the set.

Here you see the reactor again with the missile bay to the left.

The finished product is really just amazing. I was afraid that the center of the submarine would be loose and have trouble staying together. I shouldn't have worried - it went together and held just fine. I did have some trouble with the long pieces that make up the bottom of the submarine. I believe it was my own impatience that caused most of the problems with the bottom. To make it go easier and faster I used a product called 'Le Glue'. It is a non-toxic water-soluble glue that washes away when put into hot water. All of the rest of the build I had no problem with. The brick tool that comes with this kit is an even better design than the previous one that came with the other kits I had built from JMBricklayer.

Thank you JMBricklayer for allowing me to review this amazingly detailed Nuclear Submarine brick kit. I actually completed the kit much faster than I imagined. The detail and what I was seeing while building it made me want to just keep building to see what came up next in the build. It really is a great display brick model. Now it is the pride of my collection, which is very amazing because the White Swan is an amazing kit also.

This ship could be from the late 19th or the early 20th century. This is much more of a display model other than a toy that you can play with. The sails and some other parts are a bit too dainty for a child to play with. However, what it lacks in the play department it makes up for in sheer beauty when built. The kit comes with 1672 pieces and is meant for ages 14+.

Once you feel how heavy the box is you know that the kit is going to be a big one. The kit comes with six marked bags of parts with another bag with the sails and chains in it. Just look at the details that you can see in the picture below.

Make no mistake, it is a large and pretty much intricate build. I spent a whole week on it, working on it for two to four hours a day. I did not want to make a mistake and find out near the end of the build.

This is definitely the largest block kit I have worked on so far. I was a little taken aback at the number of bags (7) that were in the box.

I had made some comments about the last JmBricklayer kit that I had constructed. The comments were made about how the instructions could have been a bit better in places. Either JMBricklayer took them to heart, or they were already working on making building easier without my input. These instructions were very easy to follow even with the number of instructions and bricks being so large.

The most perfect piece in the entire box.

In the pictures above is one plastic piece that puts JMBricklayer above every other block kit company I have had the pleasure to build kits from. This is the handy dandy fixer for those of us who still have problems following instructions. This will take apart any type of bricks that you have put together through either not paying attention or just being in a rush. I used to use a small eyeglass straight screwdriver for my mess ups. This led to some close calls of almost impaling the palms of my hands. This little device is worth its weight in gold.

Above is the next big trick that JMBricklayer has up its sleeve. They now have the ability to make bricks that can be printed with what you would want on them! This is a real game changer. The above piece now sits proudly on my desk.

The build proceeded in a fairly straight manner. Other than there being just more pieces and instructions.

In a shorter time that I believed possible the ship was taking shape. As I mentioned, I was not trying for a speed build but was taking my time with it. Building these kits are somewhat soothing, and at least for me, calming.

The ship comes with so many excellent details that you lose track of all of them. Here is a bit of the list:

Chains for the front of the ship and for the lifeboats

Railings

Tiller wheel

Propeller

Rigging for the masts, and so much more

I have to admit that I had to stop the build right before doing the last step. The only thing that remains to be done is putting the thread that is used to add three more small sails like the one at the stern. The thread also really gives it a look of a real sailing ship from the time period. If you looked at the box, you would see that the suggested age for building the kit is 14 and up. This is that high because of the cloth like sails and the rigging using the thread. I stopped the build here because I wanted to get the review posted as soon as possible. I also wanted to take my time with the thread and sails to make the ship look as nice as possible.

Thank you JMBricklayer for allowing me to build this excellent kit. I will add a picture once I am done with the sails and rigging. I am still surprised that the sails are not made of plastic and yet looks so good on the masts.

 3 in 1 Medieval Weapon 30001

JMBricklayer

So, for this build we are going back a bit in history. Some people may look at the three weapons you can make and simply write them off as a child's toy. I suggest that you take a long look at the three different modules.

This is what JMBricklayer has to say about the model:

"The design of our 3-in-1 model kit is inspired by the elements of warfare in the medieval period. This model kit not only has a rich historical background but also has a variety of interesting ways to play, which can take you on a journey through the retro history and culture of the medieval period and appreciate the wisdom of the ancients. Build three magnificent kits – a Ballista (a huge crossbow), a Bombard (an early type of cannon), and a powerful Catapult.

Block model’s overall color scheme retro, will let you have a feeling of immersion in the medieval era. And the body is solid, the appearance of a high degree of restoration, and exquisite design, the outer contours of each wheel, and the front part of the vehicle have a unique light blue sickle-type decoration, that plays a defensive role, but also embellishes the appearance. You can take home research to discover more playable details."

The first build I chose to make was the 'catapult'. To be entirely correct it is one form of a catapult. The Romans called it an 'Onager' which means 'wild ass', the reason being the machine has so much torsion power that when it hurls a projectile the onager actually jumps when the hurling arm hits the crosspiece.

The many little pieces that JMBricklayer has built into the kit are pretty amazing. It comes with wheels that have scythes attached to them. There are chain pieces that also help to immerse the builder into another age. You can see by the picture above that they are pretty large models.

There is only one thing that I do not like about the build. It comes with seven different well marked bags of bricks. However, instead of only having to use the 1st bag, and then so on, it actually tells you to open all seven of the bags before building. Because the kit has only 568 pieces it is not as bad as it could be. Just make sure that you leave yourself enough room for spreading them out for the build.

The build itself is straight forward. With the small round connection pieces, it is better to look carefully at them and separate them into their distinctive shapes. This is not a build I would recommend for outside use (I wouldn't really take any block toy outside). However, it will stand up to firing its payload in all three modes without a problem.

Oddly enough, when building one of these kits you are not on edge at all about it. When building models, I was always afraid to put too much or not enough glue etc. The painting gave me over the top anxiety (which is probably why they came out so bad). Doing a block kit actual makes me calm for some reason. I think it is because I really cannot do anything to ruin the kit. I might put the wrong piece in but fixing that is usually fairly easy.

Thank you, JMBricklayer for allowing me to review this interesting and well-made kit. This kit is the perfect size for someone to start in the hobby.

RC Tiger Tank 61501

Oddly enough, I do not have a Tiger I or a King Tiger in my block made kit menagerie. So, I jumped at the chance to build this kit from JMBricklayer. The RC tanks that I usually see advertised have always seemed to me to be long on the RC part and rather short on the looks end. Oh, for a child that doesn't really care if it looks like a Tiger I or not they are fine. However, when these kits are being built by us old folks it is a different story. What we want is a Tiger I that looks like one and was not developed from a sketch of Picasso's. You will be pleased to know that this kit is a well-done representation of a real Tiger I (Panzerkampfwagen VI to you sticklers).

Building the kit was pretty straight forward. Just so you understand, with all of the kits from different companies that I have built, there have been problems with assembly. The main problem is me. I get too nonchalant about looking as closely to the instructions as I should. I get into a groove and just start building. That is, until 3-10 pages later I find that I messed up and need to disassemble everything I have done for the last five minutes.

With this kit I only had two slipups and one of them was minor. The only thing that scared me when I opened up the package was when I saw that the tracks came unassembled. I had visions that the tracks were going to be a complete nightmare to build with my non-adroit fingers. I was extremely happy to find out that putting the tracks together was one of the easiest parts of the build. I remember what a living hell it was putting tracks together for a glued plastic model. I swear I would end up with one or two tracks glued to my forehead.

This is what JMBricklayer has to say about its kit:

Exquisite Building Block Kit】: This tiger tank is composed of 800 high-quality building blocks, which can be used with confidence. The entire model measures 9.60in(L) x 5.11in(W) x 4.33in(H), plus, all accessories are packaged in individual bags in the order of assembly, with colorful assembly instructions to help you easily distinguish and complete assembly. You can do it with your family, and it will be fun.
【Creative Design】: The military tank is rich in structure, unique and creative in design, and is a fantastic toy model. It can go forward and backward, left and right, and can drive in all directions. And it is equipped with a rotating turret, and a built-in gyroscope, and can simulate the sound of the engine, which truly restores the tank experience. Overall, this is a very refined and flexible military building block vehicle.
【Easy to Operate】: The military tank building block toy has a motor and a lithium battery, which can be driven flexibly. It supports a mobile phone APP or 2.4GHZ remote control (without battery) Bluetooth control, the signal is stable, and remote operation can be realized, you don’t need to worry about operation problems. You can enjoy assembly with your family and friends and unlock its various functions together when you’re done.

This is a picture of the box

The contents before I opened up the bags

I am well aware that you should separate all of the different pieces into piles of like pieces before you even start building. This would be just like doing a puzzle. However, I prefer the 'Where is Waldo?' type of building. It adds time and sometimes leads to a little annoyance, but it works like the game of 'Concentration' during the build.

This kit was pretty enjoyable to put together. It took about three hours in total. However, I was not just sitting there doing the construction straight through. I spread the build over two days and was doing other things in the meantime. As I had mentioned, the tracks were quite easy to put together. The instructions were a little hard for me at the beginning of the build. They are all diagrams as usual. What JMBricklayer does is use a red line around where the new pieces are supposed to go. Do not build it like me and just assume you know where pieces are supposed to go. Look for those red lines and you will not make any mistakes like I did.

The kit also comes with markings for the tank. I always had trouble with those when building plastic models. I could never get them where they needed to be put on. I had no problem at all with these markers from the Tiger kit. These are different than the others that I have worked with. With these you put them on and then rub them for a bit. Then you actually peel back the clear plastic leaving the marker.

While I have never been a fan of RC vehicles and have not owned any until now, I was impressed with the sound and movement of the Tiger I. Thank you JMBricklayer for allowing me to review this fine product of yours. The next review for them will be of their 3-in1 Remarkable Ancient Machine.
